Julia Petiprin and Catherine Manabat

Julia Petiprin is the Co-Founder and Owner/Operator of HomeMakers Bar in OTR. She moved to Cincinnati to open Sundry and Vice. Since it’s opening in March of 2015, Sundry and Vice has garnered tremendous local, regional and national acclaim for its interior design and bar program. In addition to her design background, Julia has over 18 years of bar and restaurant experience that she calls upon to oversee the bar program and operations for Sundry and Vice and now HomeMakers Bar. She is a Cincinnati transplant by way of Los Angeles and has immersed herself into Cincinnati’s community with her love of cocktails, spirits, and the hospitality industry.

Catherine Manabat is the Co-Founder and Owner/Operator of HomeMakers Bar. A Los Angeles native, Catherine has lovingly called Cincinnati home for 11 years. She has made it a priority to be part of the growing bar culture and community of Cincinnati. She was on the opening bar team at 21c and ran the bar program from 2013- 2015.  She then became the Southern Ohio Sales Manager for Watershed Distillery-a craft distillery based out of Columbus, Ohio. The position allowed her to create partnerships and collaborations with non-profits, restaurants, bars, community influencers, and the bar community. She has established herself as one of the top beverage consultants locally and regionally offering product education, cocktail classes, and marketing strategies. She is one of the founding members of Cincinnati Cock Fight.

Catherine and Julia opened HomeMakers Bar in June of 2019 and it is quickly becoming a go-to favorite in the neighborhood. HomeMakers Bar is the slightly retro, mostly modern craft cocktail bar & disco that feels like a house party. HomeMakers Bar serves up classic and modern cocktails focusing on aperitifs, digestif and bitters. It is a space that celebrates makers and the community that helps them thrive, it is a place that encourages you to defy conventions. Catherine & Julia, along with their team, hope to grow HomeMakers Bar as a unique voice in the Cincinnati community

Cooking With Minor Case

Cooking Demo

6:15-7:00

Presented by: Christian Gill and Stephen Fante

Christian Gill commenced his culinary journey at the tender age of seven years old in Lexington, Kentucky. Beginning in his grandmother’s kitchen, the desire to create was fostered by the teachings of women in his family, and later on perfected through experience: trial by knife. Executing his knowledge and passion for flavor, Christian welcomed ranging culinary opportunities, from corporate chains to local catering, even leading him to Walt Disney World in Orlando. Molded by experience, Christian’s journey led him to Cincinnati, Ohio for his debut Executive Chef role at the Cincinnati Art Museum and curator of Rhinegeist Brewery’s Chef recipes. In 2016, PJ Neumann approached Chef Christian with an offer he couldn’t refuse, the opportunity to share his grandmother’s biscuit recipe with the world. In 2018, Boomtown Biscuits and Whiskey opened its doors, elevating the essence of comfort food and delivering culinary gold. In 2019, Chef Christian was named one of the top 6 chefs in Cincinnati. Under his leadership, Boomtown was named the 2019 Cincinnati Best New Restaurant by City Beat.

His larger than life personality attracted executives at Food Network and Flavortown’s own, Guy Fieri. Under Guy’s mentorship, in 2017, Chef Christian was selected out of 7,000 applicants to compete on Guy’s Big Project, a six episode series that followed nine contestants with the ultimate goal of a new show on Food Network. Christian made it to the final four. His personality was not soon forgotten as Guy invited Christian back in 2018 to compete on Guy’s Grocery Games. Christian’s culinary skills prevailed as he won the top prize $20,000. 2019 will hold an abundance of new opportunities that will showcase this lively chef’s culinary flair.

The Manhattan

Cocktail Demo

7:30-8:15

Presented by:

Giacomo Cimenello

Fuzzy History. The Manhattan. The Somewhat True, Not Even remotely False Tall Tales Regarding a Hopeful President, Churchill's mom and an Orangutan?

Cocktails histories can get a little, blurry. There was a time when bartenders were talked to, and not about, and people had slightly better books to write then ones stricken with recipes. So it’s no wonder that there is never any one clear claim to fame origin story for the superhero of cocktail lore. Like any great legend, one has to suss out fact from fiction. In the most colorful presentation on a cocktail you will see this year, Giacomo explores the many facets of THE™ Manhattan’s history and various timeless recipes to get to the bottom of the glass. Fact? Fiction? Aliens? You decide what you want to believe.

If you’ve had a cocktail in Over the Rhine in the past few years, odds are you have been served by this handlebarred, Jersey native. Known for his boozy forward, absurdist milkshakes, Giacomo has garnered local and national attention for his cocktail creations. After cutting his teeth studying at Sundry & Vice, he went on to foster programs at Aster on Fourth, and both Branch Restaurant and Night Drop cocktail bar in Walnut Hills, where he now calls home. Giacomo’s Italian pedigree brings with him a strong predilection to balancing the bitter and the boozy with the gastronomic influence of modern cuisines.
